Solar panels are easy to forget, because they are out of sight and out of mind. But dust, pollen, bird droppings and a fine layer of grime build up on the glass, and every bit of that blocks light from the cells and drags down what the system produces.
The catch out here is the trees. All those established gums on the large semi-rural blocks are wonderful for the street and tough on a solar array, dropping pollen and sap and drawing the birds that leave their mark. A clean clears the glass so the panels can pull their weight again.

Why and when you need it
A system you never clean slowly underperforms. Grime, pollen and droppings build a layer that blocks sunlight, and you pay for it on the power bill without ever seeing the cause up on the roof.
Big leafy blocks make it worse, since panels under and beside established gum trees collect more pollen, sap and bird activity than panels out in the open.
A clean every six to twelve months keeps output where it should be. Worth doing after the spring pollen flush, after a long dry spell, or whenever you notice the numbers slipping in the app.
How this service works
We clean with purified, de-ionised water fed through a soft brush head. With the minerals stripped out, that water lifts the dirt and then dries without leaving spots or streaks on the glass.
Everything is done from the ground with a reach pole, which keeps the work safe on the larger, steeper roofs around here.
No harsh chemicals and no abrasive pads come near the panels, because the surface coating is delicate and the wrong product can etch it.
While we work we run an eye over the array and mounts and flag anything obvious, like a lifted clamp or signs of bird nesting underneath.
